Ifalos Taverna is a warm, family-run spot on Perneras Avenue in the Pernera area of Protaras, serving authentic Cypriot cooking in a relaxed, traditional Greek-style setting with mainly terrace seating. Diners return again and again for generous fish meze, tasty chicken kebab, lamb chops and a well-priced mixed grill loaded with different Greek meats, salad, chips and mushrooms. The famous Cyprus chips draw special praise, and a pint of Keo pairs nicely with the food.
Portions are large, prices are reasonable for the location and the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. Staff are attentive, quick and especially good with children, even bringing out toys for younger guests. The taverna gets busy in the evenings, so reservations are recommended, and a few resident cats add to the laid-back seaside-village charm.
