Yiannis Taverna

Tucked into the hillside village of Kathikas in the Paphos district, Yiannis Taverna is a family-run Cypriot restaurant set in a characterful limestone-and-wood building with a shaded outdoor terrace. Owner Yiannis and his family are famed for genuine hospitality, greeting guests warmly and often sending out complimentary starters \u2013 village salad, cracked green olives, tzatziki, beetroot and toasted bread with olive oil \u2013 followed by a sweet finish such as homemade cheesecake and grapes. The menu roams across authentic Cypriot classics like lamb kleftiko, ofto, moussaka and generous meze, alongside grills, fresh fish, pasta and children's dishes, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diners well looked after.

Portions are famously huge and prices are excellent value, which is why the taverna draws both loyal locals and travellers from across the region. There's easy parking behind the restaurant, and the peaceful village setting makes it ideal for a relaxed lunch or cosy evening. Open daily except Thursday, for lunch and dinner.
